I feel like a lot of these throwbacks are anime I watched during the same period of my life. I think I was prompted to watch a lot of these series because I saw them in anime music videos (AMVs). And anyone who’s ever seen an AMV knows that they normally only use the most exciting parts of the anime in the video, which can give you a false sense of what kind of anime it is….like it did to me. Not to say that I was disappointed with this anime (far from it), but it wasn’t at all what I expected.
From the scenes I was shown, I thought it was going to be more scifi action, maybe a little romance. What I got instead was a scifi… romance… comedy with a little slice-of-life. I still enjoyed it regardless… It developed my tastes for ecchi anime and good dubs. It also got me excited for computers to come in the shape of a person. I probably wouldn’t want one my size… I think the tiny mobile ones that you can hold in your hand would work best. If you’re confused by any of this, go watch this anime.
It’s not amazing, but it’s also soooo far from bad. Just whet your palette with it, especially if this isn’t the type of anime you would typically watch. It’s cute and charming and doesn’t deserve to be forgotten in the 2000s. I think the dub is great, especially if you’re a Haruhi Suzumiya fan. You should recognize some of the cast (and if you don’t, shame on you). I’ve rewatched this anime several times just because it’s a pleasant watch. I know what’s going to happen, but I enjoy the story some of the fillers.
