This top portion will always say the same thing. The Anime Updates section is what’s really being updated with new content.

This is my way of keeping myself organized. I’ll be limiting myself to 5 anime at a time. I can’t start a new one until I’ve finished at least one of the five on this ever changing list. When I finish one I’ll make a post about it, though depending on how long the series is, I might make a post in the middle of the series.

I’ll be keeping track of each anime and the episode I’m on both on this blog and on MyAnimeList (MAL). Below, there’s a link to MAL so you can look at all the things I’m currently watching, have watched, plan on watching and how I ranked each anime.

I don’t want to watch only recent series, so at least one or two of these entries will be about some throwback series. The rest will  be relatively recent (let’s say released in the last 3 yearsish).

WARNING: Due to the content of some of the anime I am currently watching, this post might not be suitable for all ages. If you continue to read on, you are doing so at the risk of tainting your mind (which, once again, is not my fault).

Let me know what anime you’re watching now! Anything you recommend? I’ll add it to my ever growing anime list.

I’ve finally posted this closer to my original goal, the first Monday of the month….I’m only two days late, thank you.

I’m super close to finishing the last part of the Haikyuu review which will allow me to move on to reviewing other anime that I’ve just fallen behind on. Honestly, outside of Boku no Hero…. I probably won’t even review the other ones I’ve watched up till this point, unless I’m specifically asked, which I know I will not be asked to do because there are like 2 of you here reading this… one of them being my lovely editor <3.

At some point I will figure out how to get this to a larger audience, but I don’t even know where to start with that… so until I figure that out, we will continue to be a party of three.

And besides from those updates…….I guess I’m done. I feel like it may be time for another story from Japan, or maybe some other stories about the life of a Black female nerd, more specifically Black Anime Otaku. I’ve got some stuff to say about that from when I was much younger and less secure about… everything in general. I don’t like to get into heavy topics, so I’ll try not to make those post too whiny…

So without further ado… the anime updates.

Anime Updates

Since I updated so late last month, I didn’t have a lot of time to finish anime. But I am super proud to say I finished quite a lot of stuff and can actually switch out some anime…replacing some series they’ve been on the list for a long long time.

Completed Anime

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri
Holy crap, this anime was gorgeous. And the story wasn’t too bad, either. I think it started off pretty strong with attacks happening basically every episode. I was fine with everything up until the shift in antagonist. I personally think they could have kept the survival story going until the very end….plus I had an issue with how the characters gained control of the freaking biggest stronghold in the anime. My initial thought was how freaking stupid are these people….like the leaps in logic these people had to make in order to think that their own ruler had been a secret Kabane. Wouldn’t most people think that it was really suspicious that everything was perfectly fine until these outsiders showed up? But hey, maybe that’s just me…..not trusting anybody.

Magic Kaito 1412
So this anime was exactly what I expected it to be. It wasn’t different, or special, or anything unique. I pnly watched this because I liked when this character made appearances in the Detective Conan series. That’s it. If you have not watched or read Detective Conan at all, you probably won’t want to watch this…..hell, even if you have watched it you might not like this, because it’s literally just Shinichi Kudo if he were a little more of an asshole and decided to be a thief instead of a detective. They have the same exact kind of story… same types of characters… you know exactly what’s going to happen… Just everything was cloned from the original Detective Conan series, but I guess all that matters is that I enjoyed the show, which I did.

Continuing Series

KonoSuba (0 episodes)
I don’t think I watched anymore of this series since the last update so nothing to update, but I’ll be done with this before the end of the month.

Re:Creators (episodes 1-2)
I haven’t watched much and I’m only just now getting to see most of the characters because they all literally come out in episode 2. And I only have a super basic understanding of the plot thus far, trying to figure out the identity of the girl with the swords. Liking it so far, though. I think it’s too early for me to really have an opinion of any kind yet. There are no glaring flaws or super mind blowing parts, so I’ll just have to wait and see.

Boku no Hero Academia Season 2 (episodes 16 – 18)
Every episode this season… the hype just keeps getting bigger. What more can I say about this anime? There were epic fights, high stakes, great antagonists that you can sympathize with, character development… and that was all in like, a single episode. I’m glad the goody two shoes class president’s personality was given more depth. What he did appeared to be really out of character for him but they did such a good job at showing the impact that his brother had on him. That makes it easy for the viewer to believe that the character could act in such a way due to his blind anger toward the hero killer. I’m dreading finishing this season because I know it’s going to end on some sort of cliffhanger and it’s going to make me have to read the comics…. (A note from the Editor: Do it. Read the comics. Come and suffer with the rest of us waiting for the Next Big Plot Arc.)

Anime Replacements

So it was very hard for me to pick what the replacements were going be because I had two recent series that I really wanted to watch but there’s only room for one.

I love mature ecchi stories, and I recently came to learn that I like stories with sadistic female characters (like Prison School). That leads my recent anime pick to be Kakegurui. The moment I found out there was even an anime for this, I knew I had to put it at the top of my list. I wanted to start the manga, but because I’ve been a little too busy to read manga lately—for several months now, actually—I had to begrudgingly put it on the backburner (that’s a lie… manga reading hasn’t just gone to the backburner, it’s been taken off the stove top, put in a Tupperware and left in the fridge to eventually just rot).

So from the explanation above you know it has to do with domineering women in some capacity…..This is somehow mixed with gambling and the whole school hierarchy is based off how good you are. I’m kind of just guessing at this point, but that’s all I really know about it and it sounds great. I heard this is on Netflix, but I checked Netflix and didn’t see it…. Then I found out that it’s on the Japanese Netflix, so it looks like I’m about to VPN my way over to that. I can’t believe it’s not going to be out on US Netflix until  next year… like come on Netflix, get your crap together. The hype of the anime is going to be gone by then.

So a long time ago when there was a Funimation channel on…..(insert cable provider here because I don’t remember which one it was on)… this show aired on there. I was never able to finish this anime because the network kept repeating the first 12 episodes so I never saw anything past those, but I read some of the manga at some point and eventually lost my spot there too… Whatever, the main point is that I have never finished this series in any medium and would like to before the world comes to an end. That’s why this will be my throwback anime for the month. And because it’s super long, it will probably be my throwback anime for next month too because back in the day anime just never freaking ended, apparently. We didn’t have this “only 12 episodes” problem… They just kept cranking ’em out, beating the dead horse waaaay past the point where it was decomposing…. Okay, I’m done now.

Besides the fact that I took my metaphors way too far in this update….I have nothing else to say 😀
