Love Hina

My first introduction to the harem genre and I must say…’s the reason I’ll still watch a harem anime today. Honestly, I think this was one of the first mainstream harem anime (outside of Tenchi Muyo) that got really popular back in 2002-2003. I don’t think I watched it until 2005ish. If you love the formula of a harem this is a really good classic, one that really brought all the troupes of the genre front and center: You have your dorky protagonist guy, the obvious best girl, and then a slew of other characters that will hit some fetish you have. Loved the back drop of trying to get into Tokyo U… now that I’m older, I understand the struggle of trying to get into college so I really want to re-watch this… and one day I will.

If you don’t know what the harem genre is, this will give you a good indication of what to expect. If you love stories and constant conflict preventing the characters from actually getting together, I highly recommend this. Plus, if you just like cute anime girls, this is also something you just can just sit back and watch without thinking too much about the plot. Actually, I think this artist is the same person who did Negima, another really long harem anime, except it’s with a 10 year old boy and high school girls… I know that’s kind of creepy, but they are 14… so maybe a little less creepy? (A note from the Editor: No, that’s still pretty creepy…)
