This top portion will always say the same thing. The Quick Update section is what’s really being updated with new content.
This is my way of keeping myself organized. I’ll be limiting myself to 5 anime at a time. I can’t start a new one until I’ve finished at least one of the five on this ever changing list. When I finish one I’ll make a post about it, though depending on how long the series is, I might make a post in the middle of the series.
I’ll be keeping track of each anime and the episode I’m on both on this blog and on MyAnimeList (MAL). Below, there’s a link to MAL so you can look at all the things I’m currently watching, have watched, plan on watching and how I ranked each anime.
I don’t want to watch only recent series, so at least one or two of these entries will be about some throwback series. The rest will be relatively recent (let’s say released in the last 3 years).
WARNING: Due to the content of some of the anime I am currently watching, this post might not be suitable for all ages. If you continue to read on, you are doing so at the risk of tainting your mind (which, once again, is not my fault).
I binged watched a lot of anime these past few weeks. I finished Ao no Exorcist and I’m 2 episodes away from finishing Log Horizon, which means I gotta find two more anime to take their place. Luckily, this week I only have to find one! I have several more posts coming that will be finished for next week; I’m done writing one and halfway through writing another one. One of those will be another blackanimegirl post, which I would like to put out more frequently, but I haven’t really come up with an abundance of content for that yet, so…….. I’ll be working on that (easier said than done). I’ve also finally bought all the pieces to my Princess Mononoke mask and will be posting pictures of me making it as well as (hopefully) one of my friends making the actual outfit. We’ll see if I can get her to remember to take pictures whiles she’s making it. I can’t sew at all, which is why I’m not making it.
Ao no Exorcist (Season 1)
I generally knew what was going to happen all the way up until about a third of the way through the series. I thought I would’ve recognized more, but apparently I didn’t really get that far in the manga. I think I got to the point where all of Rin’s friends found out he was the son of Satan.
Have I told you how much of love shounen anime/manga and the hero’s journey? This is just another classic shounen anime with a demonic twist. Rin has the potential to be great, but he needs to control his powers and learn more about himself in the process. Even his brother Yukio goes through some of this too. His little journey just happens more in the background. And who didn’t think that he wouldn’t have demonic powers? He also had some of that blood running through him so it really wasn’t a big surprise… but when they finally revealed it in the show I was still totally hyped. This show also had some of my favorite voice actors in it. Like Wendy Lee and Johnny Yong Bosch, who both also happen to be the voice actors of one of my favorite anime: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. God, Johnny’s voice just sounds so attractive….he could literally read me anything and it would automatically sound better.
I gotta be honest on this one… I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did, even though it was recommended to me by a friend. I wasn’t too excited for another anime with the premise of being stuck in a video game, but this anime just took that idea and ran whole other way with it. Talking about the social structure that emerged….and the economic problems….and the world’s history and lores…..and political issues? Holy shit! This went waaaaaay beyond any expectations that I had. And slowly developing each and every character with care? This is what happens when you stretch a season out to 25 episodes instead of 12. Everything just seems more laid out and brought together. All the characters feel real and 3 dimensional. People react to situations in ways that fit with their character and best of all: no one is overpowered for no reason. The main character isn’t perfect and has their own ways that they need to grow. And the final mystery….I really want to know why they were transported to the world. What happened to their world? Are they supposed to eventually forget about that world as they keep dying? So many questions. If this isn’t answered in the anime, I know what manga I’m going to have to add to my list
Next on my watch queue is One Punch Man…and Magic Kaito……I will actually give One Punch Man 3 episodes instead of two this time around to grab my interest. I swear to god….I’m giving it a second chance……if I still don’t like it by the end, I give up. It’ll just be another hype train I can’t ride out. I want to. I like to know all the mainstream crap people are talking about so I can join in the conversation. I’m also wait for another big 3 to replace the current ones so I can participate in that as well (The BIG 3: Naruto, One Piece, Bleach and trailing behind those is Fairy Tail).
From the post picture, if you recognize it you already know what anime I’m adding to the list……Boku no Hero Academia 2nd season…. which also means I’ll be pushing back the review for that anime until I finish this new season…. I had actually written a lot of the review for that one, but after this second season I have a feeling that I’m going to have to rewrite a lot of it. Oh well…. such is life.
